Rural Districts Face Unique Math Challenges

We understand. We've partnered with 30+ rural districts to solve these exact problems.

Limited PD Budgets

Rural districts often serve high-poverty communities with tight budgets. Traditional PD requires travel, substitutes, and per-diems—costs that add up fast.

Travel Distance Barriers

Quality PD often means 2+ hour drives each way. Teachers lose entire days to travel.

Teacher Retention Challenges

Rural districts face higher turnover. Teachers need ongoing support to build confidence.

Limited Tech Infrastructure

Some rural schools have spotty internet or limited devices.

Multi-Subject Teaching

Rural teachers often teach multiple subjects or grade levels.

Isolated Professional Learning

Small staffs mean fewer colleagues to collaborate with.

Rural districts deserve the same math outcomes as urban and suburban peers — but traditional PD models weren't built for your constraints. Frequently Asked Questions

Can we really do PD entirely virtually? Won't teachers miss in-person support?
Yes-virtual works. Our coaches model lessons via Zoom (teachers share their classroom camera), provide real-time feedback, and facilitate PLCs remotely. Rural districts report higher engagement than traditional "fly-in" PD because support is continuous, not episodic. Teachers can ask questions anytime via email/SMS, not just when a consultant visits.
Do you work with very small districts? We only have 2-3 schools.
Absolutely. Some of our best partners are 2-3 school districts. We scale coaching intensity to your size. Small districts often move faster (fewer layers of approval) and see quicker results. Pricing is per-school, so you only pay for what you need.
What if our internet is unreliable? Some of our schools have spotty connectivity.
We design for low-bandwidth. All resources are downloadable/printable. Video sessions are recorded for offline viewing. We offer phone-based coaching as backup. Many rural partners use a hybrid: live Zoom when connectivity allows, recorded sessions + phone follow-up when it doesn't.
How do we pay for this? Our budget is extremely tight
90% of rural partners use Title I funds. We help you navigate the application, structure payments around your fiscal year, and work with your business office. Some districts start with a 1-school pilot (lower cost), then expand district-wide after seeing Year 1 results. We can also explore multi-district cost-sharing through regional education service units.
We have high teacher turnover. Will PD stick, or will we start over each year?
This is exactly why we build PLC structures. When teachers leave, the system remains. Your PLC facilitators (trained by us) onboard new teachers. The language, models, and expectations stay consistent. Rural partners report 87% of gains maintained Year 2 even with 20-30% teacher turnover.
What if we need to cancel due to weather, harvest, or other rural-specific disruptions?
We build in flexibility. Virtual sessions can be rescheduled easily. We accommodate harvest breaks, weather closures, and multi-district calendars. Recorded sessions available for make-up. No travel means no weather cancellations.
